All graduate students are eligible to apply for travel funding through the Graduate Activity Fee Allocation Committee (GAFAC) each year. See the GAFAC website to apply.

Tax Filing Resources for International Students:

Each year starting in February, International Student and Scholar Services (ISSS) provides guidance on IRS filing requirements and access to Glacier Tax Prep, a user-friendly online tax preparation program. This tool helps UM international students, scholars, and their dependents:

• Determine their U.S. tax status
• Complete required IRS tax forms as non-residents for tax purposes

Stay tuned for ISSS communications in early spring for instructions and access details.

Scholarships or awards that exceed tuition and mandatory fees, or include student employment wages, may be subject to federal tax withholding.

The Ph.D. Advisory Council members serve as the official liaison between the PhD. Students in each department and the College of Engineering leadership. The role of the members is as follows:

• Advocate for the academic, professional, and social interests of Ph.D. students.
