Nigel John

Interests: Software Systems, Computer/Network Security, Cloud Systems, IoT systems, Medical Informatics, Medical Imaging and Image Processing

Dr. John earned his Ph.D. from the University of Miami. He has been with the University of Miami for 25 years. and has extensive experience in Software and Hardware systems. He started as a Research Associate with the Department of Radiology and was instrumental in developing an in-house Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS). He joined the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1999 and is currently a Lecturer. He was involved in the creation of the Software Engineering option in the Computer Engineering program in 2012 and has worked on updating the program and is currently working on the creation of a separate BS in Software Engineering program. He as been responsible for the ABET accreditation of the Computer Engineering program for the last 15 years and is currently the ABET coordinator for the ECE department. He is the Academic Advisor for undergraduate CE students and for the MS Cybersecurity concentration.
