Rob Weaver, BSME '08, JD '11
As an undergraduate engineering student, Rob and his partners won the Blake King Award for Best Senior Design Project for successfully improving the performance of a bullet proof vest. When he was not studying engineering, Rob travelled the country as a varsity member of the UM Debate Team. After graduation, Rob headed to law school where he graduated cum laude in 2011. Today, Rob is a registered patent attorney which allows him to combine his engineering and legal training. Rob also serves the University of Miami as a member of the Citizens Board. Rob was previously Vice-President and Secretary as well as a member of CoEAA’s Board of Directors. Originally from Omaha, NE, he enjoys watching UM sports and particularly enjoys every time the ‘Canes beat the Huskers.
Randall Sookoo, BSCPE '03
Randall is currently the Director of Customer Insight and Loyalty Marketing for Sandals Resort International at Unique Vacations Inc. He is responsible for planning, directing and conducting the overall Sandals & Beaches Resort Guest Retention strategies. Randall has also held various leadership positions at Carnival Cruise Lines, Royal Caribbean, and the Walt Disney Company leading teams responsible for the planning and implementation of CRM targeting initiatives, database marketing, and business intelligence initiatives. Randall also has a Masters in Marketing from Webster University. He currently resides in Miami, Florida and is originally from St. Croix, United States Virgin Islands (USVI). In his free time, Randall enjoys volunteering in the community, attending University of Miami Hurricane sporting events, and traveling.
Dennis Parces, BSCE '94
Dennis is a construction executive and legal counsel with 22 years of comprehensive experience in complex construction projects in the aviation, roadway, light rail, assembly-type buildings and residential market sectors. He is a graduate of the University of Miami and the University of Puerto Rico and a certified Professional Engineer and Attorney. He is a Law Review published author on Construction Law.
Dennis is currently a Senior Level Executive with MCM, a South Florida-based construction contracting firm, in charge of overseeing various civil / heavy construction projects. As former Regional Director and General Counsel for the Puerto Rico Department of Transportation and Public Works, he was tasked with developing and implementing performance-based contracts which resulted in a successful track record of project implementation. He is responsible for the technical and legal evaluation of construction projects for the Office of the Comptroller of Puerto Rico and the Puerto Rico Highways and Transportation Authority, and served as advisor to the P.R. Secretary of Transportation on public policy matters.
Kyrah Williams, BSAE '16, MARCH '18
Kyrah is a "Double Cane" as she received her Bachelors and Master's in Architectural Engineering and Architecture, respectively. As an undergraduate and graduate student, Kyrah held numerous leadership positions such as President of the National Society of Black Engineers, Treasurer of the Engineering Advisory Board, and Senator for the Graduate Student Association, to name a few. Today, Kyrah is currently working as an Architectural Associate at RT Architect, Inc. Shortly after her undergraduate graduation, she founded her non-profit A'naiys Charities, a 501(c)3 tax-exempt organization in Miramar, Florida. With initiatives focused on cancer awareness, homelessness, abandoned animals, and minorities in STEM fields, her charity has been able to help of the community in ways it hasn't before. When Kyrah is not volunteering or working, she is enjoying the company of her dogs, family, and rooting for the Canes.
Raul Velarde, BSENE '15, MSCE '15
As an undergraduate at UM, Raul took part of the BS/MS program studying Environmental and Civil Engineering for his respective degrees. With a passion for involvement and outreach, Raul was part of several organizations on campus including ASCE, Engineers Without Borders, SHPE, and multiple mentorship programs. Concentrating in researching Net-Zero Water and Net-Zero Energy throughout his undergraduate degree, Raul interned with Tetra Tech in his 5th year before joining Turner Construction as an Engineer and Sustainability Manager. Outside of work and volunteering, Raul can be caught traveling and cheering on the ‘Canes!
Andrew Doyle, BSIE ‘08
As an undergraduate at UM, Andrew studied Industrial Engineering, as well as Economics, and interned with the City of Coral Gables Public Works Department. Andrew is a Project Manager with ACS Infrastructure Development Inc. which develops, finances, constructs, operates, and maintains a variety of government concessions involving transport and public works infrastructure. He has been directly involved in multiple projects around North America, and provides a wide‐range of expertise and knowledge in all activities involved in operating and maintaining large infrastructure projects.
