This includes state of the art 3-D printing and manufacturing facilities established with support of Johnson and Johnson; we plan to create a maker space and be a manufacturing resource for the University and neighboring community.

J & J Collaboratory

The UM College of Engineering – Johnson & Johnson 3D Printing Center of Excellence Collaborative Laboratory allows the realization of cooperative educational and research opportunities for students, as well as faculty researchers in multiple disciplines. 

Equipment

  • Zeiss EVO 60 Scanning Electron Microscope. (EDS currently not available)
  • Zeiss Blue Light Scanner
  • Microtrak S3500 DLS. Particle size analyzer uses dynamic light scattering for powder in suspension.
  • Perkin Elmer Avio 200 OPS.  Inductively Coupled Plasma Optical Emission Spectrometer.
  • PerkinElmer DSC 8500 - 01 Differential Scanning Calorimeter.
  • LECO ON836. Oxygen and Nitrogen analyzer.
  • LECO CS844. Carbon and Sulfur analyzer.
  • Keyence VHX-5000. Magnification 20X – 1000X
  • AimSizer AS-100 Tap Density Volumeter.
  • Sartorius Archimedes Density System
  • Hall and Carney Flow Measurement System.
  • Haver & Boecker Sieve Sub-Sizing System.
  • Rockwell Hardness Tester
  • Instron 5564 Testing Frame
  • Instron 5982 Testing Frame

  • Tekna Tek-15. 15 kw Induction Plasma System.

Assessing the feasibility, cost estimate, and time frame varies and is typically done on a project basis.
