SASE Wins Award at National Conference in Dallas

During October 13-15, several members of the UM Society of Asian Scientists and Engineers (SASE) had the privilege of attending the 6th SASE National Conference & STEM Career Fair in Dallas. At this conference, themed “Dare to Lead,” attendees were able to take parent in a series of workshops, listen to speakers and network with individuals from SASE chapters from around the country. Attendees were then able to participate in a STEM Career Fair, which featured more than 70 companies recruiting full-time and internship candidates.

As background, SASE was founded in November 2007 to help Asian heritage scientific and engineering professionals achieve their full potential. SASE is dedicated to the advancement of scientists and engineers of Asian heritage for success in the global business word. The organization celebrated diversity on campuses and in the workplace and provides opportunities for members to make contributions to their local communities. Currently, there are more than 75 chapters of SASE across the country and UM SASE is one of them.

At this conference, besides the numerous workshops and networking opportunities that were presented, UM SASE was recognized with the 2016 SASE Inspire Award for the Outstanding New Chapter Honorable Mention. This award is presented to the chapter that has been around less than two years and has outstanding contributions and advancement of SASE’s three core mission statement. The chapter also was one of the winners of the social media contest for posting the most photos on Instagram and Facebook using #SASENC2016.
