Facility Access Control Policy – COVID 19

  • Effective: Monday, March 30rd, 2020 12:01 am. 
  • Access control will place all campus buildings under electronic access into an extended UM Holiday schedule. List includes: 1300 Campo Sano, 1551 Brescia, 1552 Brescia, Allen Hall Classrooms, Architecture (48), Architecture (49), Aresty Graduate Business Bldg, Ashe Administration Building, Cox Science Annex, Cox Science Building, Dooly Memorial Building, Ferre Building, Flipse Building (Floors 2-5), Foster Practice Building, Gusman Hall, Messinger Building, Knight Physics Building, Law Bldg (E) - Silvers & Rubenstein, Law Classroom Building (F), McArthur Engineering Building & Addition, McKnight Building, Max Orovitz Bldg, Merrick Building, Meyer Law Administration (A), Meyer Law Administration (C), Music Administration Center (MAC), Patricia Louise Frost North and South, Perez Architecture Building, Pick Hall, Rainbow Building, Rehearsal Center, Schwartz Nursing Bldg, Nursing Simulation Hospital Bldg, Studio Arts, Ungar Bldg, Volpe Classroom Building, Weeks Center for Recording and Performance, Whitten Learning Center.
  • Any specific needs for security guards or details should be handled by the School or Department, and directed to UMPD for processing. 
  • While these actions are in place, Departments should work with their respective Facility Access Power User or Liaison to update interior access schedules or assignments, or submit requests for specific access right modifications to Facilities & Operations at http://www.miami.edu/sro

Faculty and Staff Access

  • All facility access rights previously approved will continue to apply. 
  • Building access groups will be created to provide FACULTY with access to the above-noted buildings (All buildings will be accessible to all Faculty):
    • Exterior Doors to the facility
    • Weekday Building Access:  5:30 am to 11 pm
    • Weekend Building Access: 5:30 am to 11 pm
    • Exceptions: School of Comm facilities (Wolfson, CIB) are being handled by School power user/Liaison.
    • Exceptions: Residential Colleges, Student affair, Athletics, Watsco, Libraries locations would remain on current restricted Cane Card access schedule. 
  • Building access groups will be created to provide remaining STAFF assigned to specific Campus facilities (as reflected in their WorkDay profiles)
    • Exterior Doors to the facility
    • Weekday Building Access:  5:30 am to 11 pm
    • Weekend Building Access: 5:30 am to 11 pm
    • Exceptions: School of Comm facilities (Wolfson, CIB) are being handled by School power user/Liaison.
    • Exceptions: Residential Colleges, Student affair, Athletics, Watsco, Libraries locations would remain on current restricted Cane Card access schedule. 

Graduate Student Access

  • All facility access rights previously approved will continue to apply. 
  • Once this process is approved, Access control will grant exterior access to all Graduate students at all the following locations: 1300 Campo Sano, Allen Hall Classrooms, Architecture (48), Architecture (49), Aresty Graduate Business Bldg, Building 35, Ashe Administration Building, Cox Science Annex, Cox Science Building, Dooly Memorial Building, Flipse Building (Floors 2-5), Knight Physics Building, La Gorce Building, Law Bldg (E) - Silvers & Rubenstein, Law Classroom Building (F), McArthur Engineering Building & Addition, Max Orovitz Bldg, Merrick Building, Meyer Law Administration (A), Meyer Law Administration (C), Murphy Studio Bldg, Perez Architecture Building, Rainbow Building, Rehearsal Center, Schwartz Nursing Bldg, Nursing Simulation Hospital Bldg, Studio Arts, Ungar Bldg, Whitten Learning Center.
  • Students will be assigned to newly created access groups for the building(s)
    • Exterior Doors to the facility
    • Weekday Building Access:  5:30 am to 11 pm
    • Weekend Building Access: 5 30 am to 11 pm

Undergraduate Student Access

  • Facility access rights will be revoked for all undergraduate students that are not on-campus residents. Students should coordinate with faculty or staff for any access rights that may be required to support academic mission.
