Each student is assigned upper-class Peer Mentor, a Professional Advisor and a Faculty Mentor to support them during their academic journey in the College.

Reach out to your Academic Advisor through Navigate, send an e-mail, or stop by their Offices in McArthur Engineering.
Review your program plan of study prior to meeting with your Mentor and Advisor. Review possible cognate and elective courses. All current Academic information can be accessed from the University of Miami Bulletin. Make sure you meet with your Faculty mentor prior to scheduling your Advising appointment with your Academic Advisor.
Each undergraduate student has a Faculty Mentor assigned from their respective departments. Faculty mentors are listed in each students Navigate account.
Each student is expected to meet with their Faculty Mentors each semester. It is required that you meet with your Faculty mentor prior to meeting with your Academic Advisors for course selection and/or registration. Send your Faculty Mentor an e-mail, reach out by phone, or stop by their offices to schedule your mentoring sessions.
Engage with your Faculty mentor about career aspirations, internship opportunities and your dreams for the future. Ask your mentor about their journey to becoming an Engineer. If you are interested in conducting research, ask your Faculty Mentor about research opportunities in your Department and the College.
Yes, all new undergraduate students will be assigned a Peer mentor in June. Your Peer Mentor will guide you through the transition to College life, and give you pointers on Student Organizations and activities.
Absolutely! Each new student is assigned an upper-class Peer Mentor in June, and students may continue to reach out to their Mentors during their time in the College.
Each Spring, the College accepts nominations for upper-class students with GPA’s above 3.0 and are active in Student Organizations in the College and across campus. Reach out to your Advisors to let them know you are interested and have the requirements to serve.
