The Teaching and Learning Innovation in STEAM (TALIS) day is an annual event that showcases the innovative teaching methods our faculty have used to engage our students in their learning. This event features a keynote speaker, panel discussions and several short presentations from faculty on innovative pedagogies and learning technologies.
Fourth Annual TALIS Day Highlights Innovative Learning Strategies
In 2016 the college of engineering implemented the active learning initiative. One of the goals of the initiative was to promote active learning and train faculty members in active learning methodologies. Each month a lunch and learn session is held that focuses on a special topic that relates to active learning. In the past, topics such as narrative techniques, object-based learning, visual thinking strategies, diversity, equity and inclusion have been discussed. All faculty are invited to attend.
Every semester the engineering faculty have the opportunity to attend several professional development workshops and seminars. These sessions focus on active learning methodologies and educational technologies.
