1. What is FICTI? And what is eMerge Americas?
FICTI is a pitch competition to showcase the most exciting STEM student-led innovation projects from Florida universities at eMerge Americas, a unique convening of global enterprises, leading startups and government leaders focused on innovative solutions transforming industries. FICTI is a chance for students to pitch ideas to judges who are also entrepreneurs in front of an audience of those innovators and technology leaders.
2. When will FICTI be held?
FICTI happens on Tuesday, April 30, at 10:30 a.m. at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
3. Who can participate in the pitch competition?
FICTI registration is open to student teams from one of the ten participating Florida-wide Senior Engineering Design Invitational schools.
4. What is the prize?
A cash prize will be presented to the winning team.
5. How does a student team register to participate?
Student teams can register by contacting their school representative(s) and completing an online application. All information submitted will be considered confidential.
6. What is the registration deadline?
Team applications open on April 1 on a rolling basis, and will be reviewed by a committee of innovation professionals at the Florida universities for adherence to competition rules. Registration closes on April 23.
7. What is the cost to attend and participate in FICTI?
Student teams participating in FICTI will receive complementary admission to eMerge Americas. Registration for other attendees will be offered at a discount rate of $150 which also includes admission to all eMerge programs, displays and activities during the event on April 29 and 30.
