Florida Engineering Society at University of Miami College of Engineering

On Wednesday, October 3, 2018, Alumnus Shahin Hekmat led a discussion on forming a Florida Engineering Society (FES) Student Chapter at the University of Miami College of Engineering (UMCoE).

The student chapter will aim to provide a bridge to students between the collegiate chapter of the FES to the local, regional, and state levels of the FES. The organization will assist in introducing the students involved to more than 3,000 professionals within the state of Florida by providing leadership, social, professional, and education networking opportunities.

The FES supports engineering education, advocates licensure, promotes the ethical and competent practice of engineering, and enhances the image and well-being of all engineers in the state of Florida, and furthers the public’s knowledge and understanding of the importance of the profession.

The organization is currently looking for student leaders to take on leadership roles for the organization.
