The University of Miami College of Engineering will host three specialized workshops for international students. These workshops, led by the departments of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Chemical, Environmental, and Materials Engineering, are designed to cater to students interested in higher education in the United States.

These intensive three-week workshops include faculty lectures, hands-on practical sessions, faculty-student interactions, and collaborative group projects. In addition to academic enrichment, students will have the chance to explore Miami's attractions and enjoy a three-night cruise to Key West and the Bahamas.

Size

Each workshop is designed for a select group of fewer than 20 students. Our intimate setting is purposefully curated to ensure that each of you receives an unparalleled learning experience. With a smaller cohort, you'll have ample opportunities to engage one-on-one with our esteemed faculty, fostering deeper connections and understanding. This size also allows us to offer a more personalized touch, ensuring that every participant feels seen, heard, and exceptionally cared for.

    As technology has permeated our everyday lives, our information, and the ability to access that information has become essential for both business and pleasure. Emerging threats to that information are now a primary cause for concern for both businesses and individuals. This workshop is designed to show students how software development and cybersecurity can co-exist within the same ecosystem. It examines the issues related to securing information as well as how security can be incorporated into the software development process leading to more secure and safe systems.

Housing

During the program, students will be housed in a 3-star hotel. High-speed internet access is available in each room and breakfast is included for each student. Students will have access to on-campus dining options and there are numerous outside restaurants.

Three-night Cruise Experience

As part of the three-week program, go aboard the MSC Magnifica. Setting sail from Miami on January 26, 2024, immerse yourself in a 3-night voyage to Key West and the Ocean Cay MSC Marine Reserve in the Bahamas. 

Insurance

During the program, students’ health insurance is provided.

Visa Application

Participants are required to apply for a B1/B2 Visa to enter the U.S. Guidance for the visa application process will be provided.

Admission Requirements

  • Minimum GPA of 2.8
  • Basic skills in English
  • Major in Engineering, Automation, Controls, Computer Science or related field
