Engineering students do it all! With over 25 student organizations, ‘Cane engineers are committed to making the world better for other students and for every one whose lives engineers touch every day.
In 2015-16, Engineers without Borders led an international project to bring clean water and a better life to struggling communities in Latin America. The UM chapter of the National Society of Black Engineers organized a forum with UM President Juilo Frenk on how to create STEM pathways for underserved populations. The American Society of Mechanical Engineers hosted a high school outreach program that brought over 400 future engineers to campus to learn about how to pursue a STEM career. And this year our students have even more plans and goals to achieve
Along with student group initiatives, ‘Cane engineers eek out ground breaking research both at the U and nationally. They find career building internships and jobs with companies including Microsoft, Google, Facebook and many others.
Our students also find themselves as leaders whether they become athletes and go to the Rio Olympics or become student body president of UM!
