Memorandum of Understanding: East China University of Science and Technology and University of Miami College of Engineering

A Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) has been signed between East China University of Science and Technology (ECUST) and the University of Miami College of Engineering (UMCoE). The MOU calls for the development of joint conferences, projects, research, and collaborative academic programs and exchange of faculty and students.

“This agreement solidifies the growing relationship between the College of Engineering and ECUST. Our joint forces in research and academics will be greater than the sum of our individual efforts,” said Jean-Pierre Bardet, dean of the UMCoE.  “We are taking the first steps in new ways of collaboration and innovation to advance research and education with a global impact.”

Founded in 1952, ECUST is one of prominent universities in China located in Shanghai. It was originally named East China Institute of Chemical Technology and then evolved into a comprehensive university in 1993.

“The driving force behind this MOU is to not only cement current and future collaboration between both institutions, but also to promote research that challenges the boundaries of disciplinary specialization and culture area studies.” said Lourdes Dieck-Assad, vice president for hemispheric and global affairs. “UMCoE greatly values the support of our partners. We are dedicated to maintaining and building relationships with all who have and will contribute to our growth and success.”
