Lalintha Polpitiya

Lalintha Polpitiya graduated with a B.Sc. degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka and also holds a Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology from the University of Colombo, Sri Lanka. He worked as a Software Engineer at MillenniumIT (A member of the London Stock Exchange Group), before attending University of Miami. He is currently a Ph.D. candidate and teaching assistant at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of Miami. His Ph.D. research has been supported by the US National Science Foundation (NSF) and the US Office of Naval Research (ONR). His research interests include Evidence Fusion, Uncertainty Reasoning in Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Deep Learning. Lalintha was a member of the team that won world championship in IEEEXtreme 3.0 and runners-up in IEEEXtreme 5.0. He was also a recipient of the IEEE Richard E. Merwin Student Award and worked as Student Ambassador of the IEEE Computer Society.
