Karissa Grasty is the assistant dean for advancement at the College of Engineering and the School of Nursing and Health Studies. A 20-year veteran of the nonprofit and public relations sectors, Grasty came to the University from UCLA, where she was the senior major gifts officer for the Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science. Prior to that, she was a fundraiser for UCLA’s School of Arts and Architecture.

Before joining UCLA she spent nine years as the manager of corporate relations at the J.Paul Getty Trust. At the Getty, she launched the corporate program and established partnerships with a number of Fortune 100 companies.

Earlier, Grasty served as director, special events, for the Henry Mancini Institute when it was based in Los Angeles. She was responsible for all events and fundraising as well as for marketing, public relations and advertising efforts.

She was a publicist at Bender, Goldman & Helper, a Los Angeles-based entertainment public relations firm and began her career in Washington, D.C., as press secretary to former U.S. Sen. Lauch Faircloth of North Carolina.

Grasty received her journalism degree from the University of Georgia and lives in Coral Gables with her husband of 17 years.
