How did you find this internship?
I got this internship after interviewing with the company at the Society of Women Engineers (SWE) National Conference in Philadelphia last fall.

Describe your internship.
I worked with Verizon in their Network Systems division creating virtual machines on their network to aid in their effort to virtualize their applications.

What did you learn at CoE that has helped you at your summer internship?
I had the background knowledge of databases and virtualization needed to quickly get up to speed within Verizon’s environment and understand the technology I was working with. I also used some of my previous lessons in programming while setting up Linux virtual machines using the command line.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned at this program?
I learned a lot about the function of large telecommunication companies, as well as the vast scope of work Verizon does. I also got to experience firsthand what the process of virtualization is like within a major technology company.

Why has this been a good experience for you?
I got to work with an amazing team and learn more about virtualization in the industry. I also was able to receive great training in new technology and learn more about how telecommunication companies function. Getting exposure to this side of the technology industry was a great experience, and I learned an incredible amount.
