How did you find this internship?
I worked for the same company last summer.

Describe your internship.
This summer at Bedrock Detroit, I have had the privilege of working with the construction team, working on ground-up development projects that total over $3 billion in the heart of Detroit’s Central Business District. These projects include the Hudson’s Site – the future tallest building in the state of Michigan, designed by SHoP Architects out of New York – and the Monroe Blocks Development, a five building development designed by Danish Architects Schmidt Hammer Lassen.

What did you learn at CoE that has helped you at your summer internship?

The CoE has given me an incredibly well-rounded education that has prepared me for the multi-disciplinary fields of construction and design.

What’s the most valuable lesson you’ve learned at this program?
The most valuable lesson I have learned at my internship is the importance of communication and iterative design between every team member working on a project.

Why has this been a good experience for you?
I have learned so much about the process of designing and building mega-structures, while working hand-in-hand with construction managers, architects, engineers of every background, as well as government relations, finance and legal personnel. This internship has given me a wholesome view of how projects work from start to finish, as well as the vast experience needed to succeed at this scale of development.
