Dr. Shyu’s Research Garners Recognition
Dr. Mei-Ling Shyu, Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE), has garnered significant recognition for both her research and her research team’s efforts.
Dr. Shyu’s paper, entitled “A Classifier Ensemble Framework for Multimedia Big Data Classification” (and co-authored by Yilin Yan, Qiusha Zhu, and Shu-Ching Chen) was recognized as Best Paper at the 17th IEEE International Conference on Information Reuse and Integration, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA, July 28-30, 2016. IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) is the world’s largest technical professional organization dedicated to advancing technology for the benefit of humanity.
Additionally, Dr. Shyu’s paper “Spatio-Temporal Analysis for Human Action Detection and Recognition in Uncontrolled Environments” (by Dianting Liu, Yilin Yan, Mei-Ling Shyu, Guiru Zhao, and Min Chen) published in the International Journal of Multimedia Data Engineering and Management, has been selected by IGI Global as the outstanding Media and Communications article for 2015 copyright year. This award, one of the Eighth Annual Excellence in Research Journal Awards IGI bestows, was based on the paper’s overall contribution to the field, originality of the research, practicality of research/results, quality of writing, rigor of the research, and substantive research and methodology.
